Job Summary

In the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University, we research and teach how the collective behavior of molecules and cells forms the basis of life. Against a backdrop of cutting-edge biological research, we work as a team of educators and mentors to inspire and train the next generation of scientists and global citizens. The Denic Lab is a research group interested in uncovering and dissecting the molecular mechanisms guiding fundamental processes in cell biology, such as protein folding and assembly of large macromolecular structures. We are looking for an exceptionally motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team with experience in molecular biology. The individual will contribute to the intellectual development of a project, attend, present at lab meetings, and have opportunities to take part in publications. All previous technicians in the lab have been students who are taking a few years between undergraduate and graduate school, and then move on to MD or PhD programs.


Position Description

1. Molecular biological techniques, including protein, DNA and RNA purification and cloning

2. Culture and propagation of various budding yeast (S. cerevisiae) and mammalian cell lines, including HEK cells

3. Participation in general laboratory responsibilities, including ordering and organizing laboratory supplies and ensuring maintenance of equipment

4. Other duties as required


Basic Qualifications

  • One year of laboratory experience
  • Relevant coursework and internships may count towards lab experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred, preferably in biology, biochemistry, or a related field
  • Skills in molecular biology and cell culture preferred

This is a one-year term position with the possibility of extension contingent on funding. In order to be considered for this position, a cover letter and resume must be submitted.
