Job Summary

The Andersen Lab at Caltech is seeking a driven and enthusiastic team member to conduct analysis on intracortical single-unit recordings. The successful candidate should possess expertise in neural dynamical systems, control theory, and decoding algorithms. Additionally, they must exhibit strong organizational skills, a strong work ethic, and exceptional communication abilities. We are looking for individuals who possess a natural curiosity for the neural mechanisms of computation and motor control, and who thrive on tackling challenging mathematical and coding tasks.

Essential Job Duties

  • Develop models of the human brain and apply them to laboratory data to discover fundamental mechanisms that underlie motor control.
  • Assist in the collection, analysis, and review of experimental data for publication and presentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in Python and MATLAB.
  • Experience in neural decoding.
  • Must possess a high level of initiative and the ability to work with little supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills; willing to proactively seek help and advice.
  • Broad interest in science.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in engineering.
  • Experience in machine learning and deep learning.
  • Previous work with intracortical human recordings
