Summary

The University Of Michigan College Of Pharmacy has a full-time opening for a laboratory technician in its Pharmacokinetics and Mass Spectrometry Core Facility (PKMS, www.pkcore.org ). The Sun & Pharmacokinetics and Mass Spectrometry (PKMS) laboratory is looking for a highly motivated and energetic Research Laboratory Technician General Associate or Intermediate for a full-time position. This is an exciting opportunity to support highly collaborative research projects on drug discovery, nanomedicine and pharmacokinetics. 


Responsibilities*

This position will spend about 50% effort on lab management functions and 50% effort to help LS-MS analysis in the pharmacokinetics core.

Lab Management Functions

  • Help to organize the lab
  • Managing the animal protocols and animal ordering
  •  Serve as liaison between lab and ULAM
  • Oversee compliance (IACUC, Hazardous materials, etc.).
  • Order and inventory stock reagents as needed.

Technical Functions

  • Microsomal stability testing using LC-MS
  • Quantitative LC-MS analysis of compounds in biological matrix
  • May help with animal experiments in mice and rats

Required Qualifications*
  • Associate level: 0-3 years of experience in area of specialization.
  • Intermediate Level:  3-5 years of experience in area of specialization.
  • Animal handling experience, including multiple IV dosing in animals, especially in mice with different genetic background 

Desired Qualifications*
  • BS or MS degree in chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or other related field.
