Research Specialist III to perform animal experiments on rodents and conduct molecular and cell biology studies involving biochemical assays, recombinant protein expression/purification, immunoblotting, co-immunoprecipitation, and a range of cell-based assays (cell growth), survival, migration, and differentiation). Duties will include routine laboratory procedures and tests, lab maintenance, designing/conducting experiments, analyzing data and generating lab reports, and supervising/training students workers. Must be proficient in animal studies and have experience working with tumor xenografts and genetic mouse models of cancer.

B.S. in life sciences  or related field with 2-3 years of lab experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted per university guidelines. Background in Biochemistry/Chemistry/Biology essential for routine duties. Cell culture experience essential. Animal work experience required.  Gel electrophoresis, biochemical assays, and cell handling experience are desired. Basic molecular biology skills including ability to transform bacteria, purify protein, perform DNA plasmid preparation, and other routine molecular biological techniques are highly desirable.



Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.

Must be able to sit or stand to conduct bench work for prolonged periods of time.
