Position Summary | The Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State University (BME) is seeking a motivated and talented individual to develop and manage the biological/biomolecular laboratory component of a new undergraduate engineering design curriculum. The curriculum will integrate engineering design education across multiple years of the BME undergraduate program, and students will gain experience in diverse areas of science and technology associated with Biomedical Engineering. This full time position will support wet areas of skills development and design including cell and tissue biology, tissue engineering, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry and bioengineering. Primary job location will be on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus but work will be across all facets of the BME. Occasional travel to locations at or near either the UNC-Chapel Hill or the NC State campus may be required. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent instructional or educational activities related to laboratory management or practice, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Excellent organizational and planning skills are required. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Candidates for the position should have broad laboratory experience in cell culture and tissue biology, microbiology, molecular biology and biochemistry, plus experience in laboratory management and experience in the development and implementation of training programs. Candidates should have good cooperative and team skills to interface successfully with all members of the BME Department, including faculty, technical, administrative, and program development staff, and BME leadership. Candidates should also be interested in and capable of reaching across University departments and offices. |
