Job Summary

The Instruction Specialist works in the electrical and smart manufacturing labs associated with the School of Engineering Technology. Provides both instructional and operational support services for course delivery and assists students with projects. Uses Industry 4.0, AC and DC electrical power and signaling, Programmable Logic Controllers, networking, manufacturing, and mechanical skills to provide direct support to faculty, staff, and students in the school’s formal instructional labs for Electrical Engineering Technology and Manufacturing Engineering Technology.


About the Department: 
Purdue’s engineering technology professionals must be adaptable as they solve a wide variety of technical challenges.  Engineering Technology as a discipline is primarily focused on using engineering science, values, and knowledge with the technology, personnel, and abilities necessary to solve demanding business and industry challenges within production, operations, and process areas.


What We’re Looking For:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two (2) or more years of prior industry related experience with manufacturing systems, processes, hardware, and software
  • In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience


Skills Needed: 

  • Strong initiative with an ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiar with and competent in electrical device construction, programming, software, and data collection processes related to electronics, smart manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and Information Technology skills
