Job Summary
At the Huntsman Cancer Institute and the University of Utah, the Preclinical Research Resource (PRR) offers top-quality services for both basic and translational cancer research. With a mission centered around cancer translational research, the PRR is dedicated to facilitating the use of the most advanced in vivo cancer models for preclinical drug development and identifying relevant biomarkers for treatment selection and evaluation.
The PRR aims to develop strategies for predictive preclinical research to enable their routine application in clinical research, resulting in optimal outcomes in the management of various cancers. To achieve its mission, the PRR engages in internal projects focused on applied preclinical model development and collaborations focused on therapeutics and biomarker development.
Leveraging our resources and expertise, the PRR offers clinicians and researchers access to a range of in vivo cancer models, including patient-derived xenografts (PDX), genetically engineered mouse models (GEMM), and cell-line xenografts. We provide the expertise and reagents needed to perform a wide variety of experiments related to tumor biology, including viable patient sample collection, PDX and cell line banks, immunocompromised mouse colonies, ABSL2 animal housing, as well as extensive surgical and dosing experience.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Biology Lab Technician with expertise in mouse husbandry and xenografting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting our research and development efforts by ensuring the care and well-being of our mouse colonies, as well as the successful execution of xenografting experiments.
Huntsman Cancer Institute is committed to cancer prevention, care, and survivorship for all communities within the area we serve – which includes Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming – with impact worldwide. Partnerships with individuals, communities, and many other entities are crucial to our work. In your cover letter or during your interview process, we invite you to share how your personal and professional experiences have prepared you to serve as a member of our team as we work to reduce the cancer burden experienced by all people and communities. This may include description of your prior experiences related to research, prevention, clinical care, community engagement/outreach, training, administration, or other areas relevant to Huntsman Cancer Institute’s mission and this position.
