Posting Summary
We are seeking a Lab/Research Technician Senior with experience in cancer biology and bone diseases to support the operational and scientific requirements outlined below. The Stein-Lian laboratories in the Biochemistry department support an interactive and productive environment for research in multiple ongoing projects.
This position willi) contribute to experimental design and data analysis that utilizes molecular biology, epigenetic control and advanced biochemistry; ii) perform complex research studies and technical functions, including nucleic acids (e.g., DNA, expressed genes, non-coding RNAs) and proteins;iii) provide operational oversight of specialized laboratory equipment that includes microscopy, quantitative PCR, multispectral imaging;iv) perform complex mouse surgeries;v) participate in writing scientific reports and publications; vi) provide managerial supervision of the laboratories.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field and five to six years of experience in molecular biology, epigenetic mechanisms and data analysis required. Experience managing a large research laboratory is required. Effective communication skills and ability to multitask required.
Desirable Qualifications
Evidence of scientific contributions from authored publications. Management capabilities are desirable.

A four-month probationary period is required

Payband Max (Represents full-time (12 months, 1.0 FTE) equivalent salary. Must be prorated for jobs less than 12 months or 1.0FTE (Salary/12 x # of months x FTE)) 44.94
Payband Min (Represents full-time (12 months, 1.0 FTE) equivalent salary. Must be prorated for jobs less than 12 months or 1.0FTE (Salary/12 x # of months x FTE)) 23.65

Union Position Yes, UVMSU ($20 minimum hourly rate)
