The Neuroscience for Health Equity (NHE) Lab in the Biological-Health Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh has an opening for a lab manger. The NHE Lab integrates social psychology and affective neuroscience to address vital questions concerning how social inequities, particularly those related to race and socioeconomic status, may impact neurobiology and health. Our current research focus explores the interplay between neural network functions and the immune system, aiming to unravel the profound ways social disparities affect overall health and wellbeing. Individuals interested in utilizing psychoneuroimmunology or MRI methods are encouraged to apply. The NHE Lab Manager will work to provide both research and administrative support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the lab. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a team that seeks to make significant contributions to health equity through neuroscience.
Recruiting participants and collecting data, Community outreach; Scheduling participants; Running behavioral participants; Organizing collected data.
Experimental protocol and paradigm development.
Data management, analysis and manuscript preparation.
Lab administration including managing IRB protocols, creation of standard operating guides for future members, and training other lab members
Job Summary
Executes protocol-related research procedures, activities, outreach, and education. Manages a complex program or study or multiple programs and studies. Collects and analyzes data and complies with all policies and regulations. Recommends improvements to policy and procedure.
Essential Functions
Primarily mental and relational activities. Ability to use telephone, clear verbal communication, use of computer keyboard and screen, and mobility for conducting off-site data collection.
Physical Effort
While the physical effort will not be great, the individual must be able to move about between several offices and floors which are wheel-chair accessible, and to walk across campus (approximately 1 mile) to interact with other investigators and staff, deliver research-related documents and materials, etc. No heavy lifting or extended standing will be required.

Additional details about Required Licensure/Certification B.A./B.S. in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, computer science, public health, or related areas; 2-3 yrs research lab experience; Experience with computer coding (especially for stimulus presentation in Eprime or PsychoPy and/or data analysis in R or SPSS statistical software) is desirable, but not required.
