Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a Lab Manager! The Lab Manager oversees the daily operations of the Dental Hygiene Clinic. Responsible for working with clinic patients, scheduling appointments, and coordinating with Dental Hygiene students and instructors. Responsible for performing regular maintenance on dental hygiene equipment, managing inventory, and stocking clinic supplies. Provide administrative assistance to the Program Director, faculty, students, and staff. Serves as HIPAA and OSHA coordinator for the clinic, ensuring policies and protocols are followed while monitoring quality assurance. Performs patient chart audits.


Summary of Responsibilities

  • Manages patient activity. Sets appointments, collects documentation, creates and digitizes files, receives payments, and registers patients. Works collaboratively with community partners and other dental professionals that contribute to the success of the department and the patients served in the clinic. Transfers patient records upon request and serves as a resource to communicate and follow through with students, faculty, staff, community partners, and other patient inquiries.
  • Performs regular maintenance on dental hygiene equipment, inventories and stocks clinic supplies, and keeps the Dental Hygiene Clinic clean and organized.
  • Works with students and Dental Hygiene instructors to ensure the efficiency and quality of the services rendered by the Dental Hygiene Clinic. Maintains clinic schedules for faculty and students. Coordinates with community partners for outreach opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's degree in a related field or years of equivalent experience working within a dental office or managing records/supplies within a similar clinic will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications: 
Bilingual (Spanish)

  • Working knowledge and experience with Dentrix.
  • Basic knowledge of dental office practices.
  • Experience with dental clinic equipment and maintenance.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills that will foster positive, professional relationships with students, patients, staff, and the community.

  • Ability to communicate clearly in English and Spanish (preferred).

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
