We are searching for someone who shares the same passion and mission to join our dynamic team as the Lab Coordinator for the Sleep Health Research Lab in the Department of Psychology .

Job Description: The Lab Coordinator has a vital role in the Sleep Health Research Lab. Under the supervision of Dr. Ivan Vargas , this individual coordinates studies and participates in many aspects of the research process. This position is ideal for someone who is planning on applying to PhD programs in Clinical Psychology, especially those with a dedicated interest in behavioral sleep medicine.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the execution of study protocols, including preparation and submission of IRB protocols.
  • Screen and recruit study participants, ensuring compliance with study criteria.
  • Conduct study visits, which may involve administering surveys, conducting clinical interviews, and collecting biospecimens (e.g., saliva, hair).
  • Collect, enter, and review study data accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinate in-lab procedures such as polysomnography and stress protocols.
  • Oversee activity monitoring and wearable devices used in data collection.
  • Collaborate with research team members to ensure smooth implementation of study protocols.
  • Opportunities for independent research projects for motivated team members.

Please note: This is a two-year, limited-term position. Contingent on funding, the position may be extended.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of related experience

Skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work and communicate with diverse populations effectively and professionally
  • Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Prior experience working or volunteering in a lab conducting human subjects research
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexible availability, including nights, to accommodate data collection with sleep participants
  • Strong planning and organization skills, with the ability to independently monitor and prioritize completion of multiple varied tasks
