Job Summary
The approximate duration for this role is one year.
This person will help with cleaning/labeling/organizing microscope slides, washing and putting away dishes, stocking supplies, waste and lab coat management, de-icing freezers, and other general lab duties (incl. inventory/organizing, cleaning lab areas, preparing basic chemical solutions and buffers, and changing formalin, xylenes, ethanol, and sucrose solutions); other duties as needed.

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma, plus one year of laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance assigned duties (e.g. tare and weigh chemicals on a balance)
- Good basic math skills
- Science background a plus
- Conscientious & dependable
- Good communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of college including courses in the natural, physical, or social sciences
