Position Information

The Ramadugu lab is focused on developing citrus huanglongbing (HLB) resistance through genome-assisted breeding. Under the direct supervision of the PI, Lab Assistant 2 is expected to assist in projects related to citrus breeding, molecular analysis of hybrid plants, metabolomics, and pathology experiments to understand the basis of resistance and identify markers associated with disease resistance. Management of various projects, handling standard instruments, data documentation, general lab maintenance, preparation of reagents, safety training and compliance, supervision of undergraduate students, and ability to work cooperatively with the team is expected. Citrus HLB experiments will be conducted in a contained research facility located in an off-campus location close to the University. The selected candidate will receive special training required to work at this facility.

The full salary range for the Lab Ast 2 is $21.47 - $25.29 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $21.47 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma and two years of laboratory experience or two years of college including courses in the natural, physical or social sciences and one year of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
