Position Information

The Jozwiak lab’s primary focus revolves around comprehending the intricate metabolic pathways and mechanisms occurring within plants, thereby contributing to their overall growth and functioning. To investigate these processes, the laboratory employs an array of tools and techniques such as transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, alongside molecular biology and biochemistry. Under the direct supervision of the PI, Lab Assistant 2 is expected to assist in projects related to the deciphering biosynthetic pathways in various plants with special focus on quinoa. Management of various projects, handling standard instruments, data documentation, general lab maintenance, preparation of reagents, safety training and compliance, supervision of part-time undergraduate student workers, and ability to work cooperatively with the team is expected.

The full salary range for the Lab Assistant 2 is $21.47 - $25.29 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $21.47 - $23.17 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Minimum Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of principles of molecular biology and biochemistry.

Familiarity with basic data processing and experience with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.

Willingness to work in the greenhouse. Interest in learning new techniques required for the project work.
