The Kobe College Corporation - Japan Education Exchange (KCC-JEE) offers 1 fellowship for a year geared towards US students who want to teach about Japan. Fellows can research and study anywhere in Japan, though applicants may affiliate with Kobe College (Kobe Jogakuin) for award year. The fellowship lasts for one academic year. Fellow recipients will study and carry out a research project during this time.
Stipend of $30,000 per year. Intends to cover living and academic expenses. Stipend funds may cover health care. Stipend checks are made out to fellows. May not be used for Japanese language study, research assistants, or publication costs.

Statement of Study or Research Project, including description, methodology, and timeline. Transcripts. Resume or CV. Autobiographical statement. 3 letters of recommendation. Institutional Certification Form. Language Competency Evaluation Form. Applicants must have completed their qualifying examinations and advanced to candidacy; they must also demonstrate research level Japanese language competency. Preference will be given to applicants who have documented interest in Japanese studies. Preference will be given to applicants who provide written confirmation of their research or study site in Japan. Preference will also be given to applicants who have not yet conducted dissertation research in Japan. Preference for applicants interested in topics about women's education.
