Job Summary

The Advancement Information Services team is at the core of the Advancement mission, providing applications, data integration services and reports that make our fundraising and engagement initiatives possible.  Under the general direction of the Executive Director, this position supports development and use of complex production reports and analysis that meet end-user specifications, using knowledge of a variety of computer languages, and platforms. New applications and reporting needs are created in consultation with the end user and based on analysis and assessment of user needs within the context of the Advancement organization. This position performs work of moderate to high complexity, working both autonomously and collaboratively.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with peers within Advancement to support initiatives for business intelligence, analytics and forecasting, to enhance Advancement’s reporting infrastructure and capabilities.
  • Identify and develop analytics models to assist development officers with prioritizing where to focus their fundraising efforts and time.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director to prioritize business and information needs.
  • Work with the Information Services team to develop business, functional, and technical specifications as well as test plans for reports and system updates and changes that may be required to support software updates/releases or business changes.
  • Create detailed business requirements or business process documents and translate it into functional specifications.
  • Provide analytic support by coordinating data extraction from various data sources with constructive data assessment and interpretation.
  • Work directly with end users and colleagues to develop strategies to constantly improve the integrity of the data in Advance and other integrated systems; identify opportunities that can improve efficiency of business processes.
  • Participate in data migration projects and systems integration projects.
  • Stay abreast of industry standards, new developments and technologies by participating in continuing education through meetings, seminars, user groups and online forums; for both technical skills building and business knowledge expertise.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by direct supervisor and/or department leadership.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information science, or data analytics.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in complex business systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of relational databases in a multi-user environment and how to extract data and report efficiently. 
  • Ability to create complex queries to retrieve data from normalized and non-normalized tables and analyze discrepancies. 
  • Strong time and project management skills, including developing project plan documents, technical specs, test strategy documents as part of development release strategy.
  • Strong and engaging communication skills necessary to interact with technical and non-technical partners; negotiates or mediates sound agreements in business or organizational situations where there is disagreement or difference in interest.
  • Ability to write, speak, and presents information effectively and persuasively across communication settings.
  • Ability to be proactive and work independently.
  • Organizational skills to handle competing, ever-changing priorities.
  • Flexible, adaptable attitude with the ability to learn new languages and tools.
  • Experience working with HIPPA, FERPA and/or PCI compliance rules to enforce national standards for the security of protected electronic data.

Additional Information

This is a Full-time Temporary/Per Diem/Casual position classified as Non-exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
