The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications offers 1-year employment in Japan to 2,700 individuals who will work in teaching and international relations. This program is conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. This opportunity is renewable on an annual basis. The objectives of the program are being achieved by offering JET Program participants the opportunity to serve in local government offices as well as public and private elementary schools, junior high and senior high schools.


HOW MUCH?

$28,000

Stipends of 3,360,000 yen per year and travel expenses.

AM I ELIGIBLE?

Applicants must be interested in Japan. Must hold at least a BA degree. Or, completed at least a 3-year course of education/teacher-training program for elementary, middle, or high school. Must not have lived in Japan for 6 or more years within the last 9 years. Transcripts. Proof of Graduation or Expected Graduation Date. Proof of US citizenship. Letters of recommendation. Statement of purpose. For the Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) program: Be interested in the Japanese education system and ESL instruction. Already have qualifications as language teachers. Or, be motivated to learn about the teaching of foreign languages. For the Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) program: Have a strong command of the Japanese language.
