Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to work from ladders or lifts up to 15 feet or higher
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds
  • Must be able to work in tight places for extended periods of time Must be able to distinguish wiring colors
  • Must be able to traverse campus while carrying or moving equipment in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Shift
Monday-Friday (40 hrs/wk) 8:00am – 5:00pm
Occasional overtime as needed.
Required to participate in the after hours & holiday on-call rotation with other Network employees
Job Summary
The ITS Electronic Technician position will lead installation and provisioning of network and communication infrastructure including fiber optic and copper cabling, network switches, wireless access points, analog telephony lines and VoIP equipment in a professional manner meeting departmental and industry standards. Troubleshoot, resolve and document voice and data service interruptions.
Must participate in the after hours/weekend/holiday on-call rotation. Display excellent communication and customer service skills in all facets of the job. Monitor project use of materials and labor hours while meeting business guidelines. Assist in training less experienced team members.
There is an internal employee being considered for this position (IEBC).
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Fiber optic and ethernet cabling experience, network equipment experience, customer service and communication skills, attention to detail.

Preferred Education/Experience
Associates degree plus two or more years of equivalent technical skills and/or training preferred.
Driver’s License preferred.
