Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The mission of Information University’s Services is to explore, implement, maintain, and support the uses of technology to achieve the University’s academic and administrative objectives effectively and efficiently as stated in the University’s strategic plan.
Primary Purpose of the Position:

The IT System Administrator II position is part of the team that manages a wide array of systems, which include both physical and virtual servers utilizing various operating systems, in addition to a cloud environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to patching and maintaining servers and systems, monitoring servers, and other mission-critical systems, as well as documentation. The IT System Administrator II will identify and implement technological solutions with the goal of improving operation performance/efficiency. The IT System Admin II evaluates the current state of business technology resources and identifies new technologies, or upgrades/enhancements to existing technologies, that have the potential to improve business performance. Conducts cost/benefits and buy/build analysis, presents findings, and makes recommendations. Meets with end users to assess business objectives and define user needs. Ensures that technology is appropriately installed or configured and integrates with legacy solutions. In addition, the IT System Admin II will provide second-level response for incidents reported by ITS tier-one support and monitoring systems.
Description of Work Continued:
Operational Management -50%
  • Lead the administration and support of the University’s suite of learning technologies, including the Learning Management System (LMS), Learning Tools Integrations (LTIs), Lecture Capture / Video Management System, etc.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and provide feedback to optimize workflows and improve system efficiency.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure the consistent execution of system administration processes.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise data in accordance with business needs and best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Generate comprehensive system reports that offer insights into the usage patterns of learning technologies.

Technical Support / Engagement (35%)
  • Provide end-user technical support and technical training.
  • Respond to and document the resolution of service requests via the ITSM (IT Service Management System).
  • Draft learning technologies documentation to be shared via the IT Knowledge Base and other communication channels.
  • Represent ITS on committees to collect and provide feedback regarding the administration, support, and implementation of learning technologies.

Project Management & Planning (15%)
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) or project manager (PM) for learning technology implementation projects.
  • Use project management tools to track and update project progress.
  • Research and recommend new and emerging learning technologies and trends for implementation.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements:
A master’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, and computer engineering or a closely related field with one to two years of experience OR a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer engineering, or a closely related degree with two to four years of experience.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
  • Curiosity and willingness to embrace and champion change.
  • Experience administering and supporting enterprise learning technologies (i.e., Canvas) or similar systems.
  • Demonstrated capacity to problem-solve and work autonomously.
  • Proven experience managing or coordinating projects.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with users of varying technical abilities.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Proven written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in the development of Software Development Life Cycle and initiatives.
Experience working closely with a diverse customer base and managing customer expectations.
Experience managing cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
Experience managing implementation partners.
Resource management experience.
Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Project.
