As our Lena Point Fisheries Facility IT Support Specialist, you will join a team of professionals working across Alaska to provide administrative support for exciting education and research in fisheries and maricultre. Every day, we'll rely on you to be the first point of contact to assist users working at Lena Point and around the world. You will assist new users with the installation and deployment of operating systems (primarily Windows and OS X) desktop/ laptop computers. Perform routine maintenance for current users and Lab systems. Provide technical and training support for distance delivery systems.

CFOS is one of the most geographically diverse units at UAF. The College is headquartered in Fairbanks with additional locations in Anchorage and our costal facilities include the Seward Marine Center, the NOAA-UAF Kasitsna Bay Laboratory, and the Juneau Lena Point Fisheries Facility. The College has over 150 faculty, researchers and staff based throughout Alaska, more than 100 graduate students engaged in thesis research in Alaska waters and throughout the world, and a growing undergraduate degree program in fisheries and ocean sciences.

To thrive in this role, you must be able to respond promptly to requests for IT support. You will prioritize work and consult with members of the CFOS IT team who are located in Fairbanks. To communicate effectively with users and team members a base knowledge of Google Suite, Zoom and TeamViewer is vital. The successful applicant will have expertise in performing routine maintenance of operating systems. As well as the ability to provide technical support for distance delivery systems, Service Desk IT, and Web technical support for CFOS faculty, students, researchers, and staff at all CFOS sites and locations and traveling users.

Minimum Qualifications:

One year of college coursework in Information Technology, related field, or equivalent training, knowledge and experience. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record in compliance with the UA Safe Driving criteria is required.

Position Details:

This is a UAF position located at the CFOS Lena Point facility. It is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule , Grade 76, based on education and experience.
