Position Focus:

Yale is seeking a dynamic project manager to serve on the Health Sciences IT(HSIT) team. Reporting to the Director of Health Software Solutions and Engineering, and in partnership with the principal data architect, the candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and successful delivery of data warehouse and analytics projects. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing project timelines, resources, and budgets, and ensuring that project objectives align with the overall business goals. 

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Initiation:

Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.

Develop comprehensive project plans outlining tasks, timelines, and resource requirements.

Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to ensure project viability.

Represent the team in Project Management Office activities like project gating and reviews

Team Collaboration:

Lead and motivate cross-functional teams, including data engineers, analysts, and other stakeholders.

Foster effective communication and collaboration among team members.

Clearly articulate project goals and expectations to ensure a shared understanding.

Resource Management:

Allocate resources appropriately to ensure project tasks are completed on time and within budget.

Monitor and manage project budgets, including tracking expenses and controlling costs.

Identify and address resource constraints or challenges proactively.

Project Execution:

Oversee the implementation of data warehouse and analytics solutions.

Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.

Ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards.

Stakeholder Communication:

Establish and maintain effective communication channels with project stakeholders.

Provide regular updates on project status, milestones, and any changes to scope or timeline.

Manage expectations and address concerns in a timely and transparent manner.

Risk Management:

Identify potential risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.

Implement contingency plans to address unforeseen challenges.

Continuously assess and manage project risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Documentation:

Maintain thorough and accurate project documentation.

Document lessons learned and best practices for future reference.


Essential Duties

1. Collaborate to review routine project plans and proposals and develop project objectives; identify project responsibilities by determining the phases and elements of the project; calculate time frames and sequence the stages of the project. 2. Communicate project scope, goals, and responsibilities to project team; establish clear stakeholder expectations, and requirements of varying degrees of complexity. 3. Coordinate and perform technical aspects of project, research issues. 4. Review, evaluate, and monitor cost schedule and technical scope baselines. 5. Ensure the preparation and delivery of required project documentation. 6. Prepare and provide project status updates.


Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree and two years of experience or equivalent education and experience.


Required Skill/Ability 1:

Proven knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software, and equipment.


Required Skill/Ability 2:

Proven knowledge of IT project management principles (e.g., Agile) and software.


Required Skill/Ability 3:

Developed analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.


Required Skill/Ability 4:

Developed interpersonal, written, communication, presentation, and organizational skills.


Required Skill/Ability 5:

Proven project management skills.
