Technology Services is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as an IT Professional I. This role you will be a part of the Digital Initiative Application unit within the Texas A&M University Libraries. You will play a pivotal role in facilitating faculty research, theses, dissertations, and fostering the growth of our students.   


Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of our applications, prioritizing efficiency, reliability, and user satisfaction. As part of your responsibilities, you'll be instrumental in maintaining the quality assurance and telemetry of our applications, ensuring they meet the highest standards. You'll also take charge of updating automated deployment scripts, managing server notification software, and meticulously documenting the deployment process. Through comprehensive testing, you'll guarantee smooth transitions as applications go into production.  


Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll do:     


  • Ensure applications are regularly inspected and maintain telemetry related to the inspections. 

  • Maintain documentation related to deploying and testing software applications  

  • Run testing suites to ensure all applications work as intended. 

  • Ensure automated deployment scripts work and are fully tested. 

  • Manage assets used by applications such as databases and network shares. 

  • Meet with Library customers and technical staff to determine their needs and requirements 

  • Install, upgrade, and configure hardware and software. 

  • Aid in resolving hardware and software problems.

Salary Range: Commensurate with education and experience.      


Qualifications       


  • A Bachelor’s or equivalent combination of education and experience AND four months (1 semester) of student worker or customer service experience.  

  • A well-qualified candidate would also possess knowledge of Library Systems, installing, migrating, and supporting software applications experience, experience developing and documenting testing strategies, job-related experience deploying and supporting software applications, familiar with SQL such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, familiar with coding languages including Ruby, Java, and PHP, comfortable using the Linux command line, familiar with Apache products such as Tomcat and HTTP Server, and familiar with Virtual Machines.
