Job Summary:

 

The Department of Immunology and Microbiology on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking an IT Desktop Support professional to support the growing information technology needs of the department. Primary focus will be working directly with the Faculty, Staff, and Service Center Cores on their day-to-day needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, respond to, and successfully solve IT trouble tickets submitted through the department on-line ticketing system including ticket escalation, as needed.
  • Provide training and support to students, faculty, and staff in the use of computer hardware and software for basic computer needs.
  • Setup and deploy laptops/desktops configured to University standards.
  • Help deploy software updates and apply permissions across University devices.
  • Help users get connected to computers, servers, and other IT related equipment.
  • Assists in remote technical upgrades and assistance to all department IT resources via various IT management tools (i.e., SSH, VPN, LogMeIn, AD, phone, and email).
  • Inform staff and help enforce the IT security policies developed for the department.
  • Work with lead IT Support to provide ideas and recommendations to improve and secure the network.
  • Work with users to inform and keep them up to date with new installs and OS upgrades via wiki edits, how to and cyber security updates via emails.

Work Location:

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications : 

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • One (1) year of professional level experience in IT Desktop customer support. 

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience providing IT Desktop customer support to a large and diverse group. 
  • Experience triaging work assignments and troubleshooting tickets.
  • Experience with Windows and Mac program installations and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as $51,794 - $65,882.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
