Position Summary/Description:

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The IT Comm Tech Operations Manager will oversee and lead the team of direct reports within the ITS Engineering & ITS Communications Technologies Warehouse group in ITS Enterprise Operations. This role directly reports to the Director for Enterprise Operations and involves the management of a diverse and dynamic operation within the Telecom area.
 
Key responsibilities include the support and maintenances of the ITS Communications Technologies Warehouse operations, which at any one time can have 2.0M of highly specialized communication technology equipment, hardware and infrastructure. Direct management and leadership of the engineering staff and the warehouse staff, on evaluation and development of relevant technologies, and on project management and oversight of communications infrastructure in new construction, building renovations and special projects. 
Additionally, the IT Comm Tech Operations Manager will play a key role in formulating business policies, practices, and service delivery solutions. This includes contributing to their strategic direction and operational efficiency.
This position will also be responsible for leading, supporting and mapping in GIS outside/inside cable plant strategic initiatives and upgrades in the campus GIS solution.

Education and Experience:

Knowledge of Networking, GIS, Budgets, Warehouse Management, Construction Guidelines.
