Description
The Office of Information Technology Services at the University of Tennessee at Martin is currently accepting applications for an IT Programmer/Analyst position.  This position will work with our applications development and operations team to create and maintain efficient integration of data between several software systems, as well as working with all relevant functional areas (such as the Admissions, Financial Aid, Records offices). This position will lead and assist with large-scale projects and collaborate with larger, cross-functional teams to modernize, transform, and exploit the university’s data, integrations, and business processes.   

Duties & Responsibilities
•    Designs, tests, implements, modifies, and manages critical, high-impact, and urgent projects.
•    Leads, builds and maintains data integration between the student information system (i.e., Ellucian Banner) and external systems (for example, Slate for admissions). 
•    Independently reviews, analyzes, and modifies systems including coding, testing, debugging, and installing complex software applications.
•    Defines and analyzes information technology needs and then modifies existing software, systems, and processes to meet the users’ needs.
•    Interacts with external vendors and contractors for technical solutions.
•    Has the ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines, requiring strong attention to detail and time management.
•    Performs data mapping, conversion testing, and creates technical and end-user documentation.
•    Works with users and other IT members on a routine basis to troubleshoot reported problems pertaining to application software and develops an approach for resolution. 
•    Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
•    Experience with relational databases and SQL.
•    Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
•    Ability to work with groups, both technical and functional, of varying degrees of experience and technical abilities.

Preferred qualifications
•    Experience with Linux and Windows.
•    Ability to use 3rd party reporting tools (such as Argos).
•    Experience supporting an enterprise student information system (such as Banner) and allied systems (such as a CRM).

Supervision Received
This position reports to the Director of Application Development and Operations, Web Services and Instructional Technology Center. In-person, virtual, and e-mail contact is expected regularly. This position is expected to hold regular office hours and check e-mail frequently.
