Position Description:

International Admissions Counselor

Full-time 12-month, Exempt Position

Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the International Admissions Counselor will lead efforts for international admissions at the undergraduate and master’s degree level. Working as a team with Director of Admissions and marketing staff, the IAC will build strategy for international marketing efforts, partnerships and develop systems for international student admissions. The International Admissions Counselor is a Homeland Security Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) designated school official (DSO) for the admissions process. 

The IAC is the admissions representative working with student life staff to build services and community connections for international populations. The International Admissions Counselor may serve to represent the Director in meetings and at offsite events. Additionally, the IAC will assist with recruiting events for graduate students as well as those targeted toward undergraduate students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following are primary duties: 

    Communicate with prospective students through multiple communication channels to include virtual meetings, CRM, email, text messaging and phone conversations (SKYPE, WHATSAPP, ZOOM, etc.)

    Responsible for the review of international applications (master’s and undergraduate).

    Issue I-20s for accepted students and guide them through international visa paperwork, documents and processes.

    Build partnerships with embassy’s and appropriate global, national, and regional organizations.

    Coordinate and update University information for international vendors/portals.

    Work with marketing partners, as needed, to oversee programs and projects.

    Evening and weekend as need for open houses (virtual and on ground) and events for target audience.

    Development of communications, process and follow up plans for international students at every stage will be among the responsibilities as well. Requirements for training in international applications, review, admissions and processing will be met as a part of the office professional development program.  

    Develop and maintain contact information for international student influencers and develop and execute international student influencer’s communications plan.

    Required to be capable, and develop competency in any areas where responsibilities overlap. 

    Carry out his/her duties with little supervision.

    Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    Must have valid driver’s license and be able to travel. 

    Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook

    Flexibility, dedication, initiative, confidentiality and the ability to learn.

    Bachelor’s degree required

    Preference to individuals with international admissions experience

    3+ years of professional or related experience preferred
