Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The intern will rotate through six 2-week clinical rotations: Equine medicine, Equine surgery, Equine Field Service (2-weeks), Food animal, Equine Theriogenology (4-weeks) and Overnights. Anesthesia and Farrier rotations are included for recent graduates. During Overnight rotations (12-hour shift/night) the intern will collaborate with overnight support staff to manage food animal and equine inpatients under the indirect/direct supervision of the case’s primary house officer/attending clinician. Interns will participate in on-call (total ~10-15%/year for equine and food animal) and educational events. Intern topic rounds occur bi-monthly. Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • DVM or equivalent degree.
  • Registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy in compliance with the Controlled Substances Registration Act will be required prior to clinical practice.
  • Licensure by the State of Iowa Board of Veterinary Medicine upon employment start date.
