The Statler Hotel at Cornell University is delighted to announce a career opportunity for an Interim Event Service Manager to join our Sales & Marketing Team for five months.
Serve as Event Service Manager for the Statler Hotel Sales/Catering Department, managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Responsible for managing all assigned bookings from post-contract including short term programs through to onsite handling. Duties include client outreach at set timeframes to begin the finalization process, managing client communications by phone and email, setting up appointments to tour facilities and discuss agendas when applicable, and managing room blocks and cut-off dates. Communicate all details, including room reservation and billing details rooming lists, room resumes, and Meeting & Events event orders to ensure the smooth execution of the client’s conference or event. Host internal pre-cons on new conferences or when requested. Flexible schedule to work as the volume of business dictates. This may include weekends, evenings and holidays.
Follow best practices and auto-traces utilizing the Delphi sales and catering system. Input all critical event detail in appropriate traces. Required to be on site for select high-profile conferences and events to ensure a smooth transition to the Meeting ans Events team. Responsible for accurately forecasting Meeting & Events and conference revenue on a monthly basis on assigned accounts, including data extraction and input, as well as the overall forecast on a rotation with input from the Director of Sales/Marketing.

Your role as an Interim Event Service Manager:

This position will serve as Event Service Manager for the Statler Hotel Sales/Catering Department, managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. This role will be responsible for managing all assigned bookings from post-contract including short term programs through to onsite handling. This is a temporary position lasting approximately 5 months and will work approximately 40 hours/week.

Key job responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Service, plan and coordinate conferences, meetings and Meetings & Events functions
  • Maintain account specific information clearly and concisely within the Delphi Sales System
  • Follow set meeting and Meetings & Events pricing
  • Be onsite for events
  • Provide timely follow-up on any client questions and resolve any billing issues
  • Work closely with Director of Sales & Marketing
  • Perform other Statler Leadership duties
