Interim Associate Dean, CHAS (Internal Search)

The University of Northern Iowa's College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences seeks applicants for Interim Associate Dean to provide leadership for student-centered initiatives, including recruitment and retention. Essential duties and responsibilities include working collaboratively with other members of the CHAS leadership team to support college initiatives; developing and implementing CHAS recruitment initiatives in conjunction with the CHAS Marketing Manager, assisting departments with recruitment activities, and representing the college at recruitment events as appropriate; developing and managing college-level retention activities; assisting programs with student outcomes assessment; representing the college on university committees; administering the award process for college-level scholarships; advocating for CHAS students and programs; developing and serving as liaison to a Dean's Student Advisory Committee; attending weekly department head meetings and working closely with CHAS departments; and representing the Dean and college at events as appropriate. Additional duties and responsibilities may include serving as the point person for student grievances at the college level; serving as a liaison to the CHAS IT team; collaborating on special projects as appropriate; and performs other duties as assigned.

The Interim Associate Dean position is part-time; the faculty member is also expected to teach one class per semester in their home department and remain active in their field of study. Length of appointment will be August 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025, or until the CHAS Dean position is filled through the search process.

All tenured Full and Associate Professors in the College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences are eligible to apply.
