About the Role:
The Insurance Risk Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the Risk Management and Insurance team at Stanford University. This position interacts with various campus departments and schools, providing critical services, guidance, and education on risk management best practices, risk mitigation strategies, and claims handling. This position reports to the Executive Director of Risk Management.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in risk management and insurance within a corporate, brokerage, or insurance company setting (experience as a risk analyst, broker, underwriting service is highly desirable).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Good working knowledge of Smartsheet and Oracle Financials system is a plus.
  • The successful candidate will need to be vetted through the California Department of Motor Vehicles and hold a California license.

  • Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
  • Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Occasionally use a telephone.
  • Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds. 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May have occasional extended or weekend work hours during peak business cycles.

The expected pay range for this position is $66,560 to $ $119,831 per annum.
