Position Summary
Float position assists various areas of A/R and support functions for WU-PBS. Areas of responsibility for assignments range from coverage for open or understaffed areas as well as working with spreadsheets and/or other ad-hoc reports. Position will provide support with various assigned functions in support of AR activities across the department using EPIC and other billing system tools. Special assignments may include working directly with AR supervisors, management and clinical department contacts to review and resolve selected groups of invoices or accounts. Position will utilize EPIC and/or other system tools to effectively review invoice status, identify opportunities for improvement and/or broad based solutions to claim delays or other obstacles to payment. Offer recommendations to management for process modifications or specialized/prioritized efforts to optimize revenue potential.


Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Capable of supporting all A/R areas of PBS. Act as back-up support for accounts receivable staff during peak times, vacations and illnesses.
  • Perform collection follow-up duties for third party payers to ensure timely and accurate payment of physician charges.
  • Review patient account information, invoices, correspondence and remittances for rejections and verification of accuracy.
  • Respond to questions and requests received from insurance companies.
  • Utilizes the payer websites for claim submission, claim status, attachments, eligibility, and authorization/referral inquiry.
  • Work/complete special project assignments in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Meet with clinical department staff to discuss issues.
  • Consistently works transfers from other A/R managed areas at WUSM that appear in EPIC work queues for prompt resolution.
  • Consistently meets the productivity standard of working a set amount of invoices a day as established within the department.
  • Provide assigned area supervisor with full report of activity, findings and recommendations throughout and upon completion of the project – sharing that data with manager.
  • Follow all the FPP guidelines and continually broaden core-competencies with professional conduct, customer relations, problem solving, human relations, and continuing education.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager and/or supervisor.

  • Position works remotely; however, occasional onsite presence will be required.


Physical Effort

  • Typically sitting at desk or table.
  • Repetitive wrist, hand or finger movement (PC typing).


Equipment

  • Office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years of college or business school.
  • Working knowledge of computers, general office equipment, telephone console, medical terminology, collection techniques and communication skills that involves dealing with confidential information.


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
  • Three to five years of previous billing or insurance experience.

Salary Range
$20.17 - $30.24 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
