General Description / Primary Purpose
The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of North Florida invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, 9-month non-tenure track position. Opportunities to teach over the summer may also be available. Ideal candidates will have teaching and clinical expertise in one or more of the following areas: inpatient/acute care, neurology, geriatrics, integument and wound care, leadership/management, modalities, and basic clinical skills.
The faculty to be hired will teach in their Instructor role; they may teach independently or have an opportunity to co-teach depending on their expertise and the needs of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program/curriculum. In addition to teaching, the faculty will also be responsible for student advisement/mentorship, and Department service. Faculty will also be expected to engage in scholarly activity in accordance with accreditation standards. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience.

Faculty Position Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • An earned DPT degree
  • Evidence of teaching experience and content expertise, this teaching experience could include classroom teaching and/or teaching continuing education courses.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills enabling effective team dynamics
  • A current physical therapy license and/or eligibility for licensure in the state of FL
  • 5 years of clinical experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Evidence of academic teaching experience at the university level
  • Evidence of involvement in a professional organization at a state or national level
  • Board specialty or clinical certification
  • Evidence of leadership or administration in clinical practice
  • Clinical experience in more than one setting, including being a clinical instructor
  • Evidence of participation in scholarly activity
