Job Summary | The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Instructor position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Department Head. This position focuses on undergraduate chemistry instruction and innovation in general chemistry lecture and labs, both on campus and online. Coordination and collaboration with other faculty members teaching the same course is expected. The faculty member will also contribute to department service activities. This is a renewable position and may be eligible for promotion upon achievement of the eligibility criteria and demonstration of a sustained record of exceptional achievement and evidence of professional growth and innovation in teaching and assigned duties. The Department of Chemistry at OSU has a mission that includes instruction of approximately 225 undergraduate majors and 3000 non-majors each year. The primary mission of the OSU Department of Chemistry is to provide a program of undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral education in chemistry and to conduct research and scholarly activities focused on areas of chemistry important to human health, materials and the environment. The department offers BS, MS and PhD degrees in Chemistry and has a rapidly growing student body, including 200 undergraduate majors. The College of Science provides a core instructional role at OSU, supporting the ideals of learning, discovery, and engagement that are the foundation of a land-grant university. The College embraces instruction and research in disciplines ranging from the physical, mathematical, statistical sciences to the life sciences that are based in unbiased inquiry and a dedication to discovery and innovation.
