Job Summary/Description
Teach the first and second year sequence in undergraduate Spanish with the opportunity to teach upper-division courses depending on desire and qualifications. Course load is five three-hour courses per semester on a nine month renewable contract.
Typical Duties/Job Duties
Candidates should be committed to proficiency-oriented standards-based language instruction and be very familiar with using ACTFL guidelines for assessing communicative competence. Candidates should be dedicated to excellence in teaching, with a strong commitment to high professional standards, both in and outside of the classroom. The successful applicant will possess strong communication and organizational skills and a desire to develop innovative learning experiences both face to face and online.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated record of excellence in undergraduate teaching; strong background in and commitment to communicative foreign language teaching; professional development commensurate with experience; experience teaching on-line a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
M.A. or Ph. D. in Spanish or related fields required. Demonstrated record of excellence in undergraduate teaching; strong background in and commitment to communicative foreign language teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with training in foreign language pedagogy and/or all-level teaching certification are encouraged to apply.
