This position is responsible for the instruction of course specific material within the School of Business, Information Technology and Social Sciences.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • The Instructor of Psychology will report directly to the Dean of the School of Business, Information Technology and Social Sciences and will provide 15 credit hours of instruction per semester.
  • The teaching load will include Introduction to Psychology and Human Development with additional courses in n Statistics, areas of specialization, and other courses as needed by the department. Teaching load may also include additional courses as needed by the department.
  • The individual will maintain a minimum of 5 office hours per week; participate in college committees as assigned; assist in curriculum review; mentor student research/ service projects; and advise students. Experience in community projects or development is beneficial. Day and evening classes can be expected. The teaching load may include other related assignments. Responsibilities include advisement, and other duties as assigned by the Dean.
  • Classroom locations may vary to include: SJC Main Campus, SJC East Campus and SJC West Campus, and on-site at local high schools for dual credit classes. 


Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree or higher, with 18 Graduate hours in Psychology is required. Teaching experience at a community college, with demonstrated interest in creating student-centered, interactive courses is desired.
  • The successful candidate will be dynamic with a high energy level and have a strong commitment to the community college and learning college philosophies.
  • The candidate should also value diversity and have a strong multicultural perspective with adult and minority students.
  • Physical Requirements: Varied sitting, standing, walking, bending and lifting up to 25lbs as related to office supplies and equipment.
