Faculty position to teach on the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campus.
The faculty of the Art program at the University of South Carolina Upstate invites applications for a full-time Instructor of Graphic Design. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track appointment with a start date of August 16, 2024. The selected candidate will teach a course load of 4/4 with a focus on teaching beginning and intermediate graphic design coursework as well as the history of graphic design, and maintain an active research agenda or engage in university/departmental service. The Division of Fine Arts and Communication Studies offers a Bachelor of Arts in Art Studio with a specialization in Graphic Design. The chosen candidate will join a faculty that is committed to equipping students with the skills required to excel in the professional graphic design industry.

Required Education and Experience
An MFA terminal degree in Art, Visual Communications, or Graphic Design and at least one year of relevant professional design experience OR BA/BFA and at least three years of professional design experience by the start date of the appointment is required. A successful background check is required.
Preferred Qualifications
• At least one year of teaching experience in Graphic Design at the university level (graduate assistantships are acceptable)
• Experience with program and curriculum development and assessment
• Demonstrable knowledge of web design and development (HTML/CSS and WordPress)
• A record of effective student mentorship
• A record of scholarly achievement
• Demonstrable technical skill in interactive, typographical and/or print design
