Faculty position to teach on the Spartanburg and/or Greenville campus.
The University of South Carolina Upstate invites qualified candidates to submit applications for Instructor of Criminal Justice and Director of the Upstate Crime Analysis Center. This is a 9-month non-tenure-track position with a start date of August 16, 2024. The position includes the opportunity to work and teach during the summer months for additional compensation.
The Director of the Crime Analysis Center will be responsible for staffing the Center and coordinating with law enforcement agencies and other local organizations to provide and enhance crime analysis capabilities across the Upstate, SC, region. The Director will also teach USC Upstate’s crime analysis course set each year, collaborate with other criminal justice faculty members, provide academic advisement, and participate in faculty service as appropriate.
The Upstate Crime Analysis Center is the only university-based crime analysis center that serves both law enforcement and the public. The ideal candidate will be an innovative and dependable self-starter who desires to engage regularly with law enforcement personnel as well as students.
This position requires in-person attendance on the Greenville campus of USC Upstate.

Required Education and Experience
A Masters degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Crime Analysis, or related field with 18 hours of graduate hours in criminal justice-related coursework is required by the time of appointment. At least one year of field experience in crime analysis is required. At least one year of teaching at the university level and/or training is required (adjunct appointments or graduate assistantships are acceptable). A successful background check is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates who meet the following criteria will be preferred: more than three years of field experience in crime analysis, more than three years of teaching or training at the university level, a demonstrated record of collaboration between law enforcement and education, demonstrated ability to work independently in strategic and innovative ways.
