The TEAMS Instructor will work under the supervision of California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) TEAMS program grant PI. This is a grant funded position to help talented High School students successfully make the transition to a professional environment doing stem cell related research projects. TEAMS students will be part of the larger City of Hope Eugene and Ruth Roberts Summer Student Academy but must fulfill additional TEAMS related requirements during the summer.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Serve as a mentor and role model for academic and leadership behaviors within a professional environment as well as meet with students outside of class as needed.
  • Work closely with the TEAMS grant PI to plan the syllabus, stem cell related course content, informational meetings, outside activities, patient centered stem cell related experience, student preparation for statewide student meeting, etc.
  • Assist the PI with planning, staffing and execution of the statewide TEAMS student meeting and preparing the final meeting report.
  • Inspire the students to approach their research activities in a creative and rigorous fashion.
  • Be reasonably accessible to students and their mentors/supervisors; provide assistance, encouragement and suggestions for any conflict resolution in cooperation with the PI.
  • Perform laboratory checks to ensure safety protocols are correctly followed and that the students are mentored appropriately.
  • Organize and chaperone off campus activities that are part of the TEAMS Award program.
  • Assist the functions of the Roberts Academy as time permits.
