Description

 

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS ) invites applications for a full-time instructor position starting in August 2017. Masters in chemistry or related field required, Ph.D. preferred. Candidates with instructional experience in organic chemistry will be given preference. Duties may include teaching both organic and general chemistry labs and/or lecture with other courses possible—full-load is ≈24 contact hours per 9-month academic year. Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in curriculum development and instruction in the areas of general and organic chemistry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with online course management tools (Blackboard, etc.)
  • Strong written communication skills; including the ability to develop documentation such as standards, procedures, and user support materials
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to discuss complex issues and present information clearly
  • Well-developed interpersonal and organizational skills including the ability to undertake the following:
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Take initiative and exercise judgment
  • Set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and students in an academic environment

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements:

-  Master’s degree in chemistry or related field


Preferred:
- PhD in chemistry or related field

- Instructional experience in organic chemistry
