Position Summary
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Colorado State University invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track Faculty (NTTF) position to operate the Engineering Manufacturing Education Center (EMEC) and to teach MECH 200 A&B, Introduction to Manufacturing Processes, lecture and lab sections. We are seeking a candidate with an advanced manufacturing background. The ideal candidate will have experience in hands-on education in both subtractive and additive manufacturing processes. A successful candidate will be prepared to offer lectures in all aspects of traditional and advanced manufacturing, including process simulation, data collection and process feedback as it relates to Industry 4.0 concepts.
The individual selected for this position will be responsible for teaching MECH 200 A&B (lecture and labs) in the fall, spring, and summer semesters, and will direct the operation and maintenance of the Engineering Manufacturing Education Center (EMEC). Teaching includes being readily available to constructively instruct and mentor ME students throughout their time at CSU, and regularly assessing and improving coursework. EMEC Operation includes being physically present when the lab is open, ensuring personnel safety, replacing, maintaining and operating the lab equipment and tools, managing consumables and waste, managing the EMEC budget and expenses, and supervising the EMEC Manufacturing Engineer and several other graduate and undergraduate support students.
The individual selected for this position will be slotted into one of six NTTF working titles (Instructor, Senior Instructor, Master Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, [Full] Professor) based on education and experience. Specifically, selected individuals who have an MS will have a working title of Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Master Instructor; selected individuals who have a PhD will have a working title of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. Within these two working titles, selected individuals who have > 5 years of experience will have a working title of Senior Instructor or Associate Professor; selected persons who have > 10 years of experience will have a working title of Master Instructor or [Full] Professor.
This faculty member will receive a full-time 12-month appointment with a desired start date of July 1, 2022.

Required qualifications for all levels:
  • Experience operating traditional manufacturing equipment and fabricating hardware;
  • Experience with CNC mill, lathe, and CAM software, preferably Haas CNCs, MasterCAM and Fusion 360 software;
  • Experience directing a manufacturing operation;
  • Demonstrated track record of safety training and safe operations;
  • Experience training / mentoring students or early career professionals; and
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date. The Mechanical Engineering department will NOT sponsor a visa for this position.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • 5 years industry engineering or manufacturing experience;
  • Ability to teach MECH 200A&B course and lab sections;
  • Experience in advanced manufacturing techniques, including work with composite materials;
  • Work experience at an institution of higher education; and
  • Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to improving diversity, equity and inclusion in engineering.
