Position Summary
The School of Social Work at CSU seeks a full-time, 9-month non-tenure track Instructor with the ability to teach social work courses across the bachelor’s and master’s programs in social work. This position requires specific expertise and credentialing in addictions. The instructor will have a course load of up to 12 credit hours (4 courses) each fall semester and spring semester. The instructor will work with the School of Social Work and Department of Psychology to provide oversight to the Masters in Addiction Counseling in Psychology and the Masters in Social Work joint degree program. The instructor will also provide service to the School, the College of Health and Human Sciences, and/or the CSU Campus.
We are seeking someone who is committed to recognizing and confronting biases, racism, and oppression, and constantly striving to act in ways that affirm and support students, staff, faculty, leadership, alumni, and communities with whom they engage. The successful candidate will work closely and regularly with colleagues, the diversity and support service offices, and The Institute for Learning and Teaching (TILT) for training and support in best pedagogical practices for instruction, advising and mentoring.
Applicants should have an MSW degree from a Council on Social Work Education-accredited program, a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) credential, and a minimum of two years of post-masters’ practice experience in social work. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a college, university system, or non-academic setting. This position could include teaching in multiple areas of the curriculum, based on the faculty member’s individual background and expertise (e.g. courses on practice, policy, and privilege and oppression), but will require teaching addictions-related content. We are particularly interested in hiring someone whose social work practice and/or teaching experience is deeply connected to service within underrepresented communities, in order to further Colorado State University’s commitment to community engagement.
We seek diversity and inclusion in our faculty, staff and students to broaden students’ academic experience and to enrich our campus community. Candidates must demonstrate their contributions and/or potential to contribute to diversity and inclusion through teaching and/or service and leadership, as well as demonstrate effort in or commitment to collaboratively creating a more equitable society and world. The faculty member must be capable of working with students who hold varied and intersecting identities, including diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, first generation students, Pell-grant-eligible students, international students, students with DACA status, students who speak multiple languages, students who are LGBTQIA+, and others. We invite individuals with diverse identities to apply and appreciate and honor discussion of diversity in application materials.
