The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Hospital Medicine has an opening for a full-time Instructor - Advanced Practice Provider position. 

Nature of Work:

  • Full time position in the Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. This position will primarily have responsibility at Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO) campus. Some clinical time may also be in the Children’s Hospital of Colorado Network of Care and in the well-baby nurseries at community hospitals. Additionally, this position may entail some short-term cross-coverage to other sections within CHCO.

Position Emphasis:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Care for pediatric patients of all age ranges, developmental, nutritional and physiological status in the inpatient setting and well newborn nurseries. 
  • This includes a combination of a variety of inpatient and well newborn conditions, working closely with a hospitalist attending.
  • History and physical examinations and determination of treatment plans.
  • Attendance and participation at the monthly staff meeting required.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $95,000 to $103,130.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Physician Assistant :

  • Graduation from an APAP approved Physician Assistant Training Program.
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Colorado license will be required prior to start date.
  • BLS and PALS certification will be required prior to start date.

Pediatric Nurse Practitioner:

  • Graduate of an accredited BSN program.
  • APN licensure and a Masters from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • BLS and PALS certification will be required prior to start date.
  • Pediatric Nursing Certification Board certificate or other comparable certification required.
  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification required.
  • Ability to obtain Prescriptive Authority in the State of Colorado. Will need to qualify for and obtain prescriptive authority within one year of beginning position.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check.
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all onboarding requirements of various community hospitals, Children's Hospital Colorado. Network of Care locations, the Main CHCO Campus in Aurora, and the CHCO Campus in Colorado Springs, as needed.
  • Colorado license, BLS, and PALS will be required prior to start date. NRP required within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in pediatrics.
  • Current CO state prescriptive authority.
  • Inpatient experience and well-newborn experience.
  • Acute care certification.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of a variety of common pediatric and adolescent inpatient conditions.
  • Superior customer service, communication, organizational and prioritization, problem solving and collaboration skills are necessary. 
  • Expertise and training in history and physical examinations and determination of treatment plans necessary.
