College of Medicine:

The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Medicine (COM) Clinical Skills and Simulation Center’s mission is to provide a safe learning environment for the undergraduate medical curriculum to teach and assess students in patient-centered care and develop a line of extramural work for the training of healthcare professionals outside UCF. The center achieves this by offering well-trained Standardized Patients and staff, and state-of-the-art simulation equipment.

The Opportunity:

The UCF College of Medicine is seeking qualified candidates for an Instructional Technology Specialist III position. This position is responsible for all work within CAE-LearningSpace software ensuring accurate data entry, simulated experience setup, systems functionality, and troubleshooting. Secondarily, this position will play a key role in hardware maintenance in collaboration with IT departments and will participate in simulated experience setup and support as needed within the center.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary programmer and operate CAE-LearningSpace systems in order to administer/execute a clinical learning activity or structured clinical examination for all simulations. Perform routine checks on the system prior to and during clinical onsite and virtual learning activities to include troubleshooting issues as they arise.

  • Provide technical skills in support of all medical education applications of the CAE-LearningSpace software. Work with Health IT to schedule technical audits, recommend hardware and software modifications, and troubleshoot software and hardware issues related to CAE-LearningSpace.

  • Responsible for the building of projects, cases, and case/project revisions as necessary and entering Standardized Patient (SP) case materials into CAE-LearningSpace. Assist in the development of data-related process remedies including the development of new or improved processes and revisions to current processes.

  • Monitor data integrity and accuracy of clinical skills assessment data using standard/commonly accepted reliability and validity assurance practices appropriate for either quantitative or qualitative data. Support the College of Medicine's internal and external data collection, research, and reporting needs.

  • Provide technical assistance, support, feedback, and training to faculty, instructors, and staff in the use of the CAE-LearningSpace software system, reports, data entry, etc. This will include developing user guides and procedures manuals, and the creation of brief training documents and resources. Assist in providing access and authorization to CAE-LearningSpace software system for all users. Facilitate video access for faculty and students as needed. Able to effectively communicate complex technical details to stakeholders both verbally and in written formats.

  • Assist in the creation, distribution, collection, and analysis of session evaluations including but not limited to Simulation Effectiveness Tool-Modified (SET-M) and Physical Exam Teaching Associates (PETA) evaluations.

  • Support the development, implementation, and management of simulation sessions; assist with the execution of educational and simulation research projects; assist with implementation and clean-up of simulation events as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned including, but are not limited to, the timely completion of university and college training and updates.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 8 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Outstanding customer service skills, and external and internal communication skills (written and oral).

  • Excellent organizational skills, database skills (Workday), and Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel).

  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively and efficiently.

  • Experience with CAE LearningSpace preferred.

  • Medical simulation-based education experience or background in education preferred.
