Job Overview

Under the direction of a designated administrator, the Instructional Technologist I is responsible for providing support to lecture, event capture activities, online course builds, and instructional technology. Responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. Responds to queries, runs diagnostic programs, isolates problems, and determines and implements solutions.  Works collaboratively with the unit on strategic initiatives.


Essential Functions
  • Create support guidance, knowledge resources and documented best practices for online tools and courses, e.g. digital text, graphics, animation, audio, and video.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts to develop knowledge resources and best practices in order to support the delivery of online courses.
  • Review all online content for accuracy and logical flow.
  • Keep current with accessibility issues, compatibility issues and emerging technologies as appropriate for online learning materials and management systems. Conduct testing of new tools and features in order to provide guidance to the community.
  • Consult with faculty, staff and students in order to document how technology is being used.
  • Maintain a collaborative relationship and open communication with university community.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

Demonstrated technology skills and ability with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other learning technology tools.


Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Experience with the following computer software:  Windows XP to Windows 8.1, Apple Macintosh 10.XX, Microsoft Office 2007 - 365, Anti-Virus Software, Malware removal, Canvas LMS, Kaltura Video, Webex
  • Experience with computer hardware in the following categories: Windows based personal computer systems, Apple based computer systems, Scanner and printer configurations, Mobile Device Experience, Apple IOS based devices, Android based devices
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks against deadlines
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and enthusiastically.
