Position Information
The Center for Instructional Technology and Online Learning (CITOL) invites applications for a full-time, salaried, exempt position. The position reports to the Director of CITOL.
Responsibilities
  • Review online and hybrid courses to ensure alignment with UMES quality standards
  • Serve as lead design support for hybrid and online course development
  • Provide one-on-one support to faculty in the learning management system with course builds.
  • Facilitate Online Teaching Certification (OTC).
  • Facilitate student orientations (such as Passport to Canvas and DTLE 099).
  • Strive to increase digital teaching and learning expertise and stay current with current with LMS and other product enhancements and tools.
  • Provide Student, Faculty and Staff support via office hours, email, phone calls, workshops, helpdesk tickets, and in person.
  • Follow through on open issues until brought to completion.
  • Collaborate with team members on departmental goals.
  • Report on project progress on a regular basis.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree or higher.
  • One to three years’ experience working in an academic or educational setting.
  • Experience and training in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related instructional field.
  • Experience with developing and supporting online and digital teaching and learning.
  • Experience in LMS administration, course design and development, course and modality review, customer service, and project management.
  • Experience with team collaboration and project progress tracking.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Canvas LMS, Google Workspace for Higher Ed, and other instructional technologies.
  • Related area degrees or certifications are a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Ability to develop and provide face-to-face and remote training.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, maintain timetables, and accurately track project progress.
  • Ability to work well with multicultural and diverse faculty, student, and staff population.
  • Knowledge of teaching best practices
  • Knowledge of software and platforms supportive of course development and instructional design
  • Ability to effectively collaborate as a team member and independently work toward departmental goals..
