JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The College of Engineering’s Office for Digital Learning (ODL) is seeking an Instructional Designer - Intermediate Professional to join our team. The successful candidate will focus on the design and development of non-credit micro credentials and/or credit-bearing courses in a synchronous or asynchronous online or hybrid delivery mode.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide consultation and partnership to faculty or course instructors in the development, design, and integration of innovative instructional structures, solutions, delivery methods, and assessment strategies.

  • Assess faculty/client instructional needs; establish appropriate instructional goals and learning objectives.

  • Research and apply pedagogical principles, learning theories, and emerging academic and technology trends in the design of instructional systems to ensure a high quality, collaborative, and adaptable learning experience.

  • Partner with clients (faculty, staff, and industry partners) to develop educational structures for resident, online, and professional learners.

  • Apply learning science principles to the design of innovative and effective learning experiences.

  • Integrate strategies for leveraging instructional technology.

  • Collaborate with clients and information/instructional technology staff to resolve issues related to technology use in teaching, including application assessment, content development, and deployment methodologies.

Requirements and Qualifications:

This position requires a master’s degree and 1+ years of relevant experience. The successful candidate must possess strong organizational skills and demonstrate effective interpersonal communication, as ODL is a highly collaborative unit. In addition, the Instructional Designer must have expertise in effective instructional design practices and negotiation strategies to meet the objectives of the tasks and projects. Experience in applying the Quality Matters framework to course design and experience creating courses which meet accessibility requirements is preferred. A background in STEM and STEM education, as well as knowledge in Canvas and Canvas Catalog, are pluses.

Additional Information:

This is a limited-term appointment, funded for one year from date of hire, with a possibility of renewal.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$51,000.00 - $74,000.00
