JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Lehigh Valley campus is seeking a dynamic Instructional Designer to join our university campus and play a crucial role in shaping the future of education. The ideal candidate will be passionate about innovative teaching and learning, possess an understanding of instructional design principles, and have the ability, energy, and desire to motivate and collaborate effectively with faculty and other stakeholders around the integration and use of technology.

 

The Educational Technology Specialist will provide support in instructional design, facilitating faculty in the development of online, hybrid, face-to-face, and synchronous Zoom courses, contribute to the integration of instructional technologies across campus, help with educating our campus in technology use, and provide technology support to students, faculty, staff, and visitors of Penn State Lehigh Valley will be a member of its team, which is a highly collaborative, high-performing department;

 

Responsibilities:

Technology Integration and Support:

  • Integrate educational technologies to create engaging and interactive learning experiences for students and to strive to enhance the teaching experience for faculty.

  • Offer support to students, faculty, and staff in utilizing classroom and instructional technologies.

  • Provide help desk assistance to campus users in matters related to education technology.

  • Assist in curating classroom technology that supports and propels the learning experiences created for campus courses.

Faculty Collaboration and Consultation:

  • Collaborate with faculty to design, develop, and enhance courses, curricula, and learning experiences, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and best practices in pedagogy.

  • Provide consultation to faculty on the development of online, hybrid, face-to-face, and synchronous courses, incorporating diverse teaching pedagogies and instructional technologies.

  • Collaborate with faculty to assess learning outcomes and explore the integration of new pedagogy and technology in course design.

Materials Development and Documentation:

  • Create, produce, revise, and maintain instructional materials, learning resources, media elements, and related documentation based on campus educational needs.

  • Shepherd the faculty and staff to create educational and communication materials that are accessible and comply with accessibility requirements.

  • Deliver training sessions on instructional strategies, pedagogy, and learning theories to enhance faculty members' teaching capabilities.

  • Design and conduct training workshops on instructional design strategies and technologies for faculty, staff, and students.

Budget Management and Procurement:

  • Assist the ITS department in purchasing equipment and software for campus use.

University-wide Committee Participation:

  • Serve on campus and university committees dedicated to promoting instructional technology innovations, technology integration initiatives, and creating learning experiences.

Typical Education:

  • 2+ years of related experience

  • Master's Degree or higher

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$51,000.00 - $74,000.00
