Instructional Designer, Foundational Math

Summary

This position designs, plans, coordinates, and conducts pedagogical and technological professional development workshops primarily for mathematics faculty and teaching teams to promote student success through engaging and inclusive pedagogy; collaborates with the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) Director, course coordinators, and instructors to collect and analyze data to inform course design and pedagogy; provides support to course coordinators, individual instructors, and teaching teams to design, develop, and implement a variety of active learning principles course instruction modes (in-person, blended, remote, and online); assists the Director of the CFE to plan and implement course design strategies, including the creation and integration of appropriate media elements; supports the Director of the CFE with managing professional development, data collection, and reporting regarding the key performance indicators aligned with institutional and CFE goals;
participates in appropriate committees related to teaching, learning, and educational technology.

This is a full-time, one-year position. The possibility of longer-term employment is contingent on the availability of funding.

 

Position Schedule: Position has an option for a flexible/hybrid work schedule (remote/on campus).  Work location: Bowling Green, Ohio.



Essential Functions

  • This position designs, plans, coordinates, and conducts in person and online pedagogical and technological professional development workshops for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) faculty and teaching teams to promote student success through engaging and inclusive pedagogy.
  • Collaborates with the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) Director, program directors, and instructors to collect and analyze data to inform course design and pedagogy.
  • Provides support to program directors, individual instructors, and teaching teams to design, develop, and implement a variety of course instruction modes (in-person, blended, remote, and online).
  • Assists the Director of the CFE to plan and implement course design strategies, including the creation and integration of appropriate media elements.
  • Supports the Director of the CFE with managing professional development, data collection, and reporting regarding the key performance indicators aligned with institutional and CFE goals
  • Participates in appropriate committees related to teaching, learning, and educational technology.
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

The following Degree is required:  


  • Bachelor's Degree. Degree must be conferred at time of application.

The following Experience is required: 

  • 2 years’ experience in face-to-face, blended, and/or online instruction and/or development in mathematics.
  • 2 years’ experience in an online learning environment.
  • 2 years’ experience with educational technologies (e.g., multimedia, classroom technologies, Canvas).


Additional Information

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Experience working with mathematics instructors and/or teaching in higher education
  • Proficient with learning management system (preferably Canvas) and online learning tools
  • Experience designing, implementing, and/or evaluating instruction in a variety of modalities
  • Experienced with web development programs and digital multimedia tools which include sound and video editing and web authoring programs
  • Proficient in cross platform operating systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent applied learning skills.
  • Ability to create and implement solutions/good problem-solving ability.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with broad range of constituents.
  • Good team player
