Job Summary

The Department of Finance, Insurance and Law (FIL) in the College of Business (COB) invites applications for a non-tenure track position in the area of Business Law, beginning in the fall of 2024. This position is a nine-month (August 16th – May 15th) position. The primary teaching need is in two courses:
(1) Estate planning (FIL 342) – covers required material that is part of the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation (Illinois State University has a CFP Board Certified minor in financial planning). Topics include, but are not limited to, trusts, wills, probate, charitable giving, wealth transfers, estate taxes.
(2) Law for Accountants (FIL 375) – reviews legal concepts related to corporations as background for the professional accountant. Topics include, but are not limited to, anti-trust provisions, secured transactions, regulation of employer/employee relationship, securities regulation, bankruptcy.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

Commensurate with experience and qualifications


Required Qualifications

1. A Juris Doctor degree
2. Must demonstrate commitment to effective teaching
3. For teaching positions, state law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position.


Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience including evidence of effective teaching (e.g., evaluations, peer reviews, etc.).
