Position Summary

Collects, develops, analyzes, and communicates institutional data and other information to constituents throughout the university, to support and enhance informed decision-making, problem solving, strategic planning, policy development, and institutional self-assessment. Performs applied research, and designs, executes, and evaluates analytical and statistical studies and/or institutional self-assessments.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.     Performs data reduction, statistical analysis of data, and interpretation of results; prepares or participates in the preparation and presentation of formal research reports.

2.     Prepares institutional responses to internal and/or external queries such as faculty salary surveys, employment statistics, and enrollment statistics.

3.     Formulates and prepares institutional responses to internal and/or external queries and requests for institutional data and statistics on a wide range of issues.

4.     Conducts and/or assists on a wide variety of survey research efforts for the unit; participates in survey construction, development of survey instruments, and design of survey protocols and procedures.

5.     Designs, executes, analyzes, communicates, and consults on the results of ongoing and one-time analytical studies using appropriate inferential statistics.

6.     Works with other institutional committees and staff to coordinate work and provide technical assistance, as assigned.

7.     Fulfill reporting needs including academic program review data, grant application data, and weekly registration reports.

8.     May provide functional direction to other staff on assigned work.

9.     Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Position requires: a) knowledge of programming and/or other software used to manipulate, summarize, and produce reports from multiple, large complex data sets; b) designing and managing information systems and databases to support institutional research activities; and c) preparing institutional responses to internal and external queries; and d) producing data visualizations for use by decision makers and the general public.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.

·         Knowledge of SAS, R, Stata, SQL, SPSS, and/or Python to manipulate, summarize, and produce reports from multiple, large, complex data sets.

·         Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on research data and findings.

·         Experience with data visualization software such as Tableau, PowerBI, DataWrapper, or Flourish.

·         Knowledge of statistical and analytical survey instruments, protocol, and procedures.

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

·         Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
